Saint-Cergue
Perched in the Jura sector of the Lake Geneva Region, St-Cergue, la Givrine and la Dôle are at the heart of winter activities: downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoes, dog sledges. It is also a favourite destination for night hikers.
St-Cergue (1,047 m.), la Givrine (1,228 m.)and la Dôle (1,677 m.), located in the Jura sector of the canton of Vaud, attract many snow fans. The network of cross-country ski runs and snowshoe paths runs deep into the Vaudois Jurassic Park, an area of wild pasturelands on the border between France and Switzerland.
A few ski lifts at the villages of St-Cergue and la Givrine allow for downhill skiing. The mountains of La Dôle, moreover, which link up with the ski runs of Les Rousses, offer ideal runs for beginners and young families.
La Givrine regularly holds dog sledge races, giving the Jura an air of Canada’s Great North.
Night time does not stop the athletes who meet on the illuminated downhill ski slopes of St-Cergue or don their snowshoes to walk down the moonlit forest paths.
There is nothing like taking a break in the wintry atmosphere for a delicious fondue in one of the cosy mountain chalets.
