Rougemont
The ski area of Rougemont, in the Alps of the Lake Geneva Region, is directly linked to that of Gstaad. In the valley below flows the Sarine, connecting all the villages formerly under the jurisdiction of the Counts of Gruyère.
The ski runs in Rougemont, at altitudes ranging from 1,000m to 2,100m, are the longest in the valley and offer good skiers challenging slopes. The area is also wonderfully suited to backcountry skiing. To top it all a 4.5km-long sledge run is accessible from the intermediary ski lift at Rougemont-Videmanette.
The village of Rougemont is an architectural gem with its centuries-old chalets and Romanesque church built by the monks of Cluny in the 11th century.
Families will particularly appreciate the winter sports offers in Rougement all the more so as children under 9 are admitted free on the ski lifts and enjoy reduced accommodation rates.
